Are you really asking?
Well then. To begin with, the procedure has a Nietzschean quality to it: I pull back from the world because it's too shallow or needy or boring, the guitar in my lap becomes an escape and an extension of that abyss I long for and need to stare into for hours on end. Occasionally throwing it a well-shaped pebble, a corrupted line of mindless thought or just a disharmonious drone, a dogmatic idea to challenge it, a visceral desire to not just simply create but to lust and be and bleed, to exist entirely outside my self for just a blissy splinter of a high second.
And eventually it stays with me, grows and repeats itself over and over. More refined every time, to a point where my fingers start singing, attaching sense to reason. We become acquainted. If I'm lucky, the affection is mutual.
Then all those questions become redundant.
There always comes (sic) an answer. It builds and solidifies in endless layers. It deepens further. And from that deepest of depths the darkness starts to sing back. Sound becomes form, melody tells an unscrupulous story. Another fleeing child--a delightful demon--is spawned. The song is freed from matter.
Then I put that as an answer to the world here and there because I don't need it anymore. And the world needs it even less. Because nobody needs music. It just is. So we part ways and I love you a little more.
Why?
That is not a question you should ask.
